Welcome to the RUNWAY DIARIES…

5 Nov

We’re always looking for that miracle tip that will change our lives forever, aren’t we?! Well, I can’t promise that everything I write about will have that life-saving magnitude, but I can promise some amazing backstage information that will make your already beautiful self, more glamourous… much more easily. You’ll feel ready for the runway on a daily basis. And who doesn’t want that!?

I’ll begin with one of my favorite tips: FLAWLESS FOUNDATION. I acquired this tip from a make-up artist of mine on a photo shoot set when I was 15 years old. I would cite her name, but it’s been way too long, and my memory just doesn’t support that kind of knowledge.

To achieve a natural, flawless foundation, roll the long smooth handle of your largest powder brush from the tip of your forehead to the tip of your nose. Continue rolling the brush handle from the upper lip and onto your chin (Don’t put on your lipstick before this, obviously). Again, start at the forehead, this time just above your temple and roll down, over the cheek bone and down past the jaw. Repeat on the other side. Fill in areas that still need smoothing (sides of the nose, center of cheeks, etc) by slowly rolling the brush handle in a downward motion. Don’t forget your neck! Start at the jaw-line and roll to the collarbone. Voila! Insta-beauty.

This trick smooths down those baby hairs we all have on our face, but forget about dealing with. With all the brushing and swirling going on with our powders and foundations, these itsy-bitsy hairs get all ruffled up in different directions, giving us a more cake-y and unrefined look. It also seals the microscopic powder bits to our skin, instead of our hairs, making for a longer lasting base.

Now, go have a flawlessly excellent weekend!

If you are looking for a great new brush that also works well for this trick, try:

RUNWAYChantecaille Face Brush, $70.00, available at Nordstrom (in-store/online).

MY WAY: Face Secrets Bronzer Brush, $11.99; or Face Secrets Synthetic Powder Brush, $8.99, both available at Sally Beauty Supply (online).
